2018. Jeff Yan's first company. A prediction market for anything with an outcome. 100 users. Bear market. Dead in a year. Every mechanic that makes Hyperliquid work today was tested here first, and lost.
April 2018: Jeff Yan leaves Hudson River Trading with his college roommate, Brian Wong. They build a decentralized prediction market: bet on weather, elections, sports, anything with a result. The mechanism (off-chain matching, on-chain settlement) is the same core idea that later powers Hyperliquid's order book.
They get into Binance Labs' first-ever incubator cohort in San Francisco. They call it Deaux.
It never leaves the ground. Bitcoin is down 80% from its peak. Nobody wants to bet on tomorrow's weather. Deaux tops out around 100 users. Yan personally refunds most of the $450K raised. The project shuts down.
Four years later, same core idea, same founder, better timing: Hyperliquid launches. Today it clears more perp volume than most centralized exchanges. $DEAUX is the ticker that was never given the chance the first time.

Let's start with the man behind it all - Jeff Yan.
At 17, he won silver at the Physics Olympiad. At 18, gold. Then he went to Harvard.
After a short stint at Google, in 2018 he launched Deaux a prediction market.… pic.twitter.com/BtAk2D8DJU
$DEAUX has no product, no roadmap deliverable, no team token. It exists to mark the exact moment a founder's first "failure" quietly became the blueprint for a $10B exchange. That's the whole trade.
token deploys. case file goes public. eight ball cracks open.
every "jeff yan origin story" thread on ct gets a $deaux reply. unavoidable.
polite letter to jeff. we're not asking for a partnership. just a like.
deaux was never the failure. it was the beta test.
"that thing had absolutely no chance of succeeding."jeff yan, on deaux, in a 2026 profile of the company it quietly became
no. this is an independent community token referencing public, previously reported history. no partnership, endorsement, or shared ownership exists or is implied.
yes. reported across multiple independent outlets and confirmed directly by cz on x in october 2025, plus binance labs' own incubator writeup from 2019.
none. it's a lore token. the utility is knowing the story before everyone else does.
nobody knows. it's a memecoin, treat it as a small, high-risk bet, not a plan.
an anonymous community, same as most first-movers in this category. contract and LP details are public and verifiable on-chain.
